Can you put turf on top of a mebrane?

i am tackiling a mass clear up in my back garden, trying to make it dog freindly as well as haveing plants, as my sprigers do like to root around, so i am haveing a large area with slabs and gravle, but wanted a spot of green and thought of turf.. can i put this on top of a light mebrane to help keep off the deep rooted weeds i have cleared and help prevent the dogs digging holes?

The dogs will dig where the dogs want to dig, and if that means on your new turf with landscape fabric underneath, so be it. Dogs will be dogs!

I don't like the idea of putting down landscape fabric under newly put down sod. How are the roots of the grass going to get into the soil if that barrier is there? Sod roots are very tiny and all cut off, plus the fabric may strangle the roots.

If you dug out all of the deep rooted weeds, then you shouldn't have a problem. If the area has been cleared, once you put the sod down and get that established, as long as the turf remains healthy and thick, weeds shouldn't be a problem. A thick turf will out compete a weed any day.
