What grass seeds that grows with little water and even grows on cement?

I saw this commercial awhile back and it was for this grass seed mix that makes the greenest lawns. It stated that it held in a max amount of moisture so you don't have to water it. It even stated that it was capable to grow with out dirt and on cement. It was stored in a clear plastic container rather than a bag. I failed to write the name and website down when I saw the commercial. Does anyone know what it was? Because live in very hot weather where it does not rain alot and my back yard needs help because almost nothing grows because its practically sand and weeds. I'd appreciate the help.

I saw the commerical too and finally found it online. It's call Patch Power and they have a website where you can order here:

Reply:wheat grass, crab grass, dwarf grass, even that grass they use on golf corses
Reply:Christin, I would have huge doubts about this commercial. There are grasses that require more water or less water than others but I doubt any would grow well on concrete. There are some new grasses, one of them is called Buffalo grass that require much less water than St. Augustine, for instance. I would check with the County Agent's office where you live and ask them what they recomment. I seriously doubt you will find any grass that doesn't require water. What you're looking for is something that requires as little as possible.

Good luck.

  1. I think you may be referring to Penninton's SmartSeed. See if that was the one you were thinking about: www.smartseed.com.

    Good luck!
