Are there statistics on college graduates...and weed smokers?

Ive heard some people say weed can make you think clearer, and that it doesnt make you 'stupid'...so...I'm curious if there are any statistics out there about college graduates who are successful who have smoked weed, compared to ones who HAVENT smoked weed? Are the non smokers more successful in life...or not?

Are there statistics on college graduates...and weed smokers?
well back in the day i was a big collegiate pot smoker. I dont do it anymore, and I have a decent job and consider myself successful. I recall that I never was motivated to go to class, but I dont think it had anything to do with the weed, im just a slacker by nature.

I wrote a few papers during my brief time in college and i was quite stoned when i wrote them and i would always get an A on them. However, when I wrote papers sober, i would only get a C or worse. So this lead me to believe that my inner thoughts process could be released when i was uninhibited, by the drug.

I didnt graduate, dont smoke now, and still have managed to land a decent job thats alot of fun. So, does avoiding it make you more successful?

No, but smokin it doesnt either.
Reply:To me, the whole question is akin to that of whether TV makes you stupid or smart, which is to say that if you watch A LOT of television (or browse the Web for hours at a time), that could in the long run affect your success, but it's not a guarenteed "killer" of achievement.

This is to say that it's all a matter of degree: A couple hits every weekend isn't going to mess you up too much (although I understand different people are affected differently), but if you decide to devote your life to aquiring and using marijuana, you'll have done something just as stupid as devoting your life to reruns of "Friends." In any case, if what you want is success, and you want it deep down inside yadda yadda, stay away from pot, both for the health reasons and the chances of getting caught.
Reply:I haven't heard any statistics about that but as someone who smokes weed (and a junior in college) I can tell you that for me, it doesn't help me think clearly. If anything it muddles my thoughts and I know that my memory is ten times worse since I started nearly 2 years ago. I think its effects depend on how much and how often a person smokes but I would assume that heavy smokers aren't usually as motivated which has a lot do with success. But as I said, I don't know any stats so don't quote me...
Reply:pppfffttt .. sssshhttt ppfffft ... sure, dude .. toke up

uh no ... weed is fer dummies
Reply:That is an interesting concept, and I'm sure the results would prove to be fascinating. I am at uni and am also a toker, my work is going fine, but when it comes to doing coursework/revision/exams hell no would I get stoned then! I'm not ~that~ dumb!

Yet I do find when I'm high and on the net, rather than play videogames all the time I find research all that more interesting, and the most interesting points stick with me (I don't forget them the day after or anything like that).

Many smokers have been sucessful in life, and many sucessful people will falsely deny ever using drugs (It often weakens their public image). Yet of course there are smokers out there who have become fully addicted, spent all of their money on it, dropped out and wound up homeless.. It is a gamble like most things in life. Alcohol being notably more dangerous for you- you can overdose on it for one, and there are oh so many more alcoholics out there than pot heads.

I would say it does affect my memory when it comes to dates and figures mind (I'm doing biochemistry at uni and some formulas just don't stick in my head, even though that's the case with many smokers and non-smokers alike). BUT smoking honestly doesn't affect my coherience or logic in any way.

My conclusion is that it depends on the person, their attitude and personality. If you do decide to never smoke it there is no guarentee that you will pass through college and become successful.
