Does anyone know of a weed killer that kills large weeds but is non toxic and safe for family and pets?

Our yard is full of dandelions. Large ones at that. Yet I don't want anyone in our family to have to spend hours outside and only clear a small part of the yard. Help?

I control mine by just keeping the lawn mowed. Our lawn hasn't had weed killer or fertilizer applied to it in over 25 years. Mowing the grass before the dandelions form seeds will get rid of 90% of them, or at least keep them in check. The bonus is that the lawn stays greener during the summer without having t resort to lots of watering.

Using household vinegar may help although research has shown that the acid concentration (5%) generally has a minimal effect on weeds.

Our blog has an entry dated May 25th that talks about a product that's a by-product of corn that will be safe for your family-

they don't develop a resistance to it.
