I got a correctable ticket for under an ounce, can I just go to the clerks counter or do I have to go to court

I got a correctable violation for having a little bit of weed. I was a passenger in a car. I got my doctors recommendation after I got the ticket. Can I clear this up at the clerks counter or do I have to go to court? Will the date that I got my recommendation affect my chances of getting this violation dismissed?

The document will say if there is a mandatory appearance date. It will say if there is a fine to pay and by what date if you do not want to contest it. It will give directions on how to "correct" it and by what date and means if that is the case. If it directs you to show proof of legal possession by a certain date and you show that proof in time you should be good. Its up in the air if post dated permission will be accepted. I have seen post dated proof both accepted and denied.
Reply:You will have to see a judge. If it is your only offense, dpending on where you live, You will have to pay $350, and 6 months probation, a couple classes. One thing from personal experiece man, NEVER plead guilty an arraignment, no matter what! They throw the book at you. You aren't penalized even if you get convicted . If you get a second court date you can talk to the prosecutors about getting trial by jury all that etc.
Reply:HEY, You must do what it says on the ticket. And don't miss your date. the clerk cant do anything for you. I doubt the judge is going to forget it either cause you were breaking the law and there may be more to you case than just having a little weed. Like DUI? or Smoking in the car? or any utensils that went along with it? just go to the judge and plea your case and see what happens but depending what state you're in you'll more than likely get a fine and some community service if it's your first offense, and if not well....
